It’s very common that whenever we have Chinese Fried Rice or Hakka Noodles, Manchurian have to be on the side dish. I personally love Manchurian and especially when I prepare it at home. At present chicken is out of stock in my kitchen and I’m going to prepare veg Manchurian which will be a great treat especially for veggies.

Ingredients
FOR MAKING VEG MANCHURIAN BALLS
  • 2 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 1⁄3 cup All-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup Shredded cabbage
  • ¾ cup Shredded carrot
  • 1 Green chili finely chopped
  • ½ cup Bell pepper finely chopped
  • 1 pinch Ajinomoto
  • ½ teaspoon Pepper powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cooking oil
  • Oil for deep frying
FOR MAKING GRAVY
  • 2 teaspoon Crushed ginger
  • 1 tablespoon Minced garlic
  • 2 Green chilies slit and cut into halves
  • 1 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • 2 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • ½ tablespoon Chili sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper powder
  • 2 tablespoon Tomato ketchup
  • 2 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 3 cups Water
  • Salt to taste
FOR GARNISHING
  • Spring onions chopped
  • Carrots chopped
Instructions
  1. In a bowl, add shredded carrot, shredded cabbage, chopped bell pepper, chopped green chili, a pinch of Ajinomoto, 1 teaspoon oil, pepper powder, flour, cornstarch, salt and mix all the ingredients properly.

  2. Then prepare small round shape balls from the mix.

  3. NOTE

    Do not add water to the mix to make the balls as vegetables are well enough to bind them.

  4. Now heat oil in the wok and deep fry the prepared balls on medium flame until they turn golden.

  5. Once done, drain the excess oil and transfer to the plate and keep it aside.

FOR MAKING THE GRAVY
  1. In a 1 cup water, dissolve 2 tablespoon cornflour and mix it.

  2. Now in a pan heat 1 tablespoon of oil, add minced ginger, minced garlic, chopped green chili and chopped spring onions.

  3. Sauté it for a minute.

  4. Then add soy sauce, chili sauce, and Tomato Ketchup and sauté for a minute.

  5. Now pour 2 cups water, pepper powder, salt and bring the mixture to boil over medium flame.

  6. Add the dissolved cornflour and mix it properly.

  7. Cook the mixture on low flame for 2 minutes.

  8. Now add the deep fried balls and cook for 3 minutes over medium flame.

SERVE
  1. When the gravy turns thickened, turn off the flame and garnish it with chopped carrot and spring onion and serve hot & spicy veg Manchurian.

OUR DINE TABLE
  1. My veg Manchurian is ready and tonight I will love to serve this Manchurian with Chinese Fried Rice which I have already prepared. If you want you can have it with Noodles of any variant. I will suggest you cook Manchurian balls before serving else they will turn soggy if prepared in advance.
