I think by now it’s clear to most of you that I love to prepare spice powder at home and my believe is that making homemade spice powder is really very aromatic and of course it’s pure. Recently I thought of preparing tadka masala powder, which is very much in Indian dishes especially for preparing lentil and tadka dishes.

Recently I thought of preparing tadka masala powder, which is very much in Indian dishes especially for preparing lentil and tadka dishes.

Course: Additional Recipes
Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon Cumin seeds
  • ½ tablespoon Caraway seeds
  • 8 Dry red chilies
  • ½ tablespoon Black peppercorns
  • 8 Cloves
  • ½ tablespoon Whole mustard seeds
  • 3 Black cardamom
  • 2 tablespoon Fenugreek seeds
  • 4 sticks Cinnamon 1 inch each
  • 1 tablespoon Fennel seeds
  • 1 Star anise
  • ½ teaspoon Nutmeg grated
  • 2 Mace small pieces
  • ½ tablespoon Rock salt
Instructions
  1. In a pan over medium heat, dry roast all the ingredients except ginger and nutmeg one by one and allow it to cool.

  2. Now in a grinder, grind all the roasted ingredients into a smooth powder.

  3. Once done, sieve the powder through a strainer.

  4. NOTE

    If you find any solid particles, then grind again.

  5. After grinding, cool the powder at room temperature and it is ready to use.

  1. This tadka masala powder is very useful in my own kitchen and I hope it will be yours’ too. Rather buying packets of masala day in and day out, do prepare this and be a kitchen king. In the corner of your pantry self, keep an airtight container of this masala by preparing once for later uses.
