Steamed Chicken Momo

Steamed Chicken Momo
Steamed Chicken Momo

Among the steamed foods, this recipe has a great demand by its taste and also by its looks. When it rains outside or during the rainy season, a plateful of hot steamy chicken momos is really to die for. While posting this recipe, I am feeling to have it right now and probably I might end up doing it after completing my post.

  • 5 tablespoon Salt
  • 1⁄3 cup Cilantro chopped
  • 2 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon Ground Szechuan pepper

Instructions
  1. In a bowl, take 3 cups of flour and slowly add the water.

  2. Now combine it very well with hand until it becomes a smooth ball of dough.

  3. Now knead the dough very well so that it becomes flexible.

  4. Now cover the lid of the bowl and let the dough rest.

  5. In a meanwhile, take another bowl, add the ground chicken and all the ingredients other than flour and water.

  6. Mix them very well and keep the mixture aside.

  7. Now take the dough and place it on a board.

  8. Roll it out quite thinly by using a rolling pin.

  9. NOTE

It should not be too thin either too thick as a floppy disc.

  10. After you roll the dough out, cut it into little circles by putting a small cup upside down to cut out a circle about the size of your palm. Even you can use a cookie cutter.

  11. Now by using a rolling pin, flatten out the dough into a circle making the edges thinner than the middle.

  12. Now add the chicken filling and make the momo shape by holding the flat circular dough in your left hand and put a tablespoon of chicken filling in the middle of the dough.

  13. Then fold the circle in half by covering over the filling.

  14. Now press together the two edges of the half circle and be sure that the filling is completely enclosed in the dough.

  15. Pinch and fold along the curved edge of the half circle until you reach the other tip of the half circle.

  16. Now lay the momo in a lightly greased steamer and put the lid on them.

  17. Boil water in the steamer.

  18. Then add the momo in a greased surface of the steamer after the water is already boiling.

  19. Steam the momos for about 10 minutes.
