Dumplings can be of various types but today I’m going to share steamed chicken dumpling which I’m going to prepare right now.

Dumplings are very fun to cook. Especially the Wonton Wrappers look very cute when they are steamed. Sometimes I imagine it as a tight little parcel with gratifyingly delicious taste. Dumplings can be of various types but today I’m going to share steamed chicken dumpling which I’m going to prepare right now.

Ingredients
  • 1 Garlic clove finely chopped
  • 7 oz (200 gram) Minced chicken
  • 3.5 oz (100 gram) Water chestnuts drained, rinsed and diced
  • 1 teaspoon Soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh ginger finely chopped
  • 2 spring Onions finely sliced
  • 1 ½ tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 20 Wonton wrappers
  • 2 tablespoon Coriander leaves finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Rice wine vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 3 dashes White pepper
FOR DIPPING SAUCE
  • 1 ½ tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoon Soy sauce
  • 1 ½ tablespoon Lime juice
Instructions
  1. In a bowl, mix all the above ingredients except the wonton wrappers.

  2. Now lay the Wonton Wrappers on a flat surface.

  3. Add a teaspoon of the mixture in the middle of each wonton wrapper.

  4. Now bring 2 opposite corners together and pinch to seal them.

  5. Also, pinch the other 2 corners to seal.

  6. Dip your finger in little water to seal the pastry and press together tightly.

  7. NOTE

    Be sure there is no extra air inside or else it will burst open.

  8. Now place a saucepan with water on high heat and bring to boil.

  9. Then line a bamboo steamer with baking paper and add as many dumplings as it fit there.

  10. Steam it for 10 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.

  11. Repeat the same process with the rest of the dumplings.

FOR PREPARING DIPPING SAUCE
  1. Combine all the ingredients and whisk it.

  2. Season it to taste.

SERVE
  1. The dipping sauce is ready. Now you can serve the hot steamy chicken dumpling in a palate.

  1. Making your own dumpling is really very easy especially if your home wonton wrappers are present in your pantry. Though it is light it’s a complete dish and as it is steamed, no matter to give a thought about calorie.
