We all know potato chips are loved by all irrespective of ages. I usually make potato chips at home rather buying ready-made chips from the market. In this post, I am sharing how to make crispy white colored potato chips at home easily. So do follow the technique and get it perfect.

Ingredients
  • 3 Potatoes medium sized
  • Salt to taste
  • Water to wash and soak
  • Vegetable / peanut oil to deep fry
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper powder / chili powder / paprika
Instructions
  1. Wash and peel the potatoes.

  2. Take water in a big bowl.

  3. Now slice the potatoes and put directly in the water.

  4. NOTE

    Keep the potato slices immersed in the water to avoid discoloration.

  5. Rinse it well till the color of water changes to white.

  6. NOTE

    You should remove the starch from potatoes.

  7. Discard the water and again wash the potato slices.

  8. Repeat this for two to three times.

  9. Now spread the slices on a paper or towel for 5 to 10 minutes.

  10. Pat it dry by covering it with another paper or towel.

  11. NOTE

    Make sure there is no moisture in the slices.

  12. Then in a bowl take salt and dissolve it by adding little water and set aside.

  13. Now in a frying pan heat the oil required for deep frying.

  14. NOTE

    Check the temperature by dropping a piece of potato slice. If the potato piece rises to the top immediately, the oil is heated perfectly.

  15. Turn the flame to medium and drop the potato slices in batches.

  16. Keep tossing and pressing with a ladle till bubbles cease.

  17. Once the bubbles reduce and potato slices turn crispy, reduce the flame completely and carefully sprinkle the saltwater standing feet away.

  18. NOTE

    If you can’t do so, skip it and sprinkle salt at the end after removing the chips from oil.

  19. As soon as you sprinkle the salt water, oil bubbles with a crackling sound. Keep tossing the chips to get the salt water evenly coated. The noise is completely suppressed after a minute and bubbles will stop completely.

  20. Flip the chips and remove in a tissue paper.

SERVE
  1. Sprinkle pepper powder or paprika and mix well and serve hot and crisp.

  1. Enjoy the potato chips as evening snacks with Ketchup or with your desire Dip. If you want you can season these crispy chips with your favorite herbs and spices. You can store it in an airtight box when it is cooled down and have it later too. You can’t stop munching.
