Course: Additional Recipes
Ingredients
  • 2 ¼ teaspoon Yeast
  • 1 1⁄3 cup Warm water
  • 3 ½ cup All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoon Olive oil
  • ¾ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Granulated sugar
  • Corn meal for dusting
Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the yeast and warm water.

  2. Stir it around and let sit for 5 minutes, until the yeast is dissolved.

  3. Now add flour, olive oil, salt, and sugar.

  4. Mix it by your hand or with a dough hook on low speed for 1 minute.

  5. Once all are mixed, knead it for 7 minutes by your hand or with your dough hook on low medium speed.

  6. If your dough is too wet, add up to ¼ cup more flour.

  7. After kneading your dough, it should be smooth and elastic.

  8. Now poke it with your finger.

  9. NOTE

If the dough slowly bounces back, your dough is ready to rise; if not keep kneading.

  10. Shape the dough into a ball and place in a large mixing bowl that has been coated lightly with olive oil.

  11. Now turn the dough ball into the bowl to coat the olive oil on all the sides.

  12. Cover tightly with a plastic wrap and allow to rise in a warm place.

  13. In about 1 to 2 hours, depending on your type of yeast your dough will have doubled in size.

  14. NOTE

My dough took 1 hour 20 minutes, so keep checking.

  15. Punch the dough down to release the air.

  16. Divide the dough into two.

  17. Now roll each half into a ball and let rest in two separate bowls lightly covering it for 15 minutes.

  18. NOTE

You may freeze one of the dough balls at this point to use at a later time.

  19. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or roll into a round to form the crust shape.

  20. Now transfer the crust to a lightly greased pizza pan or baker’s peel dusted with cornmeal and your pizza crust is ready.
