Ingredients
  • ½ Onion chopped
  • 3 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 6 cloves Garlic minced
  • 8 Large tomatoes peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 1 tablespoon Honey
  • ½ cup Red wine
  • 1 teaspoon Oregano
  • 2 teaspoon Dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Dried marjoram
  • ¼ teaspoon Fennel seeds
  • ½ teaspoon Black pepper powder
  • 1 teaspoon Crushed red pepper optional
  • 2 teaspoon Balsamic vinegar or more according to taste
Instructions
  1. In a pot over medium heat, heat olive oil.

  2. Then add the onion and stir it until it is softened about 5 minutes.

  3. Now add the tomatoes, garlic and bay leaf.

  4. Then bring the liquid from the tomatoes to a boil and reduce it to medium-low.

  5. Simmer the mixture until tomatoes are softened, for about 30 minutes.

  6. 6 Now stir in red wine, honey, basil, oregano, marjoram, salt, black pepper, fennel seeds and crushed red pepper into the tomato mixture.

  7. Bring again to simmer and cook until all herbs have flavored the sauce, for about 30 minutes or more.

  8. 8 Now stir in the balsamic vinegar into the sauce.

  9. 9 When the sauce turns thick, switch off the flame.

SERVE
  1. Serve it warm with pasta or you can store it for further usage.

  1. To me, the most satisfying dinner is pasta with marinara sauce covered with a shredded parmesan. Before you reach for a store-bought, you consider this marinara sauce and I’m sure it’s pretty damn easy to prepare at home.
