Ingredients
  • 1 cup Warm milk
  • 1 Egg beaten
  • 1⁄3 cup Water
  • 3 tablespoon Margarine melted
  • 4 ½ cup Bread flour
  • ¾ cup White sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ teaspoon Ground nutmeg
  • ¾ cup Fruit jelly any flavour
  • 2-quart Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions
  1. In a bowl add the milk, water, beaten egg, margarine, sugar, bread flour, salt, nutmeg, and yeast.

  2. Mix all the ingredients well and make the dough.

  3. Once the dough is made, turn the dough out on to a floured board and let it rest for 10 minutes.

  4. Roll the dough out to a ¼ inch thickness.

  5. Now with a floured cookie cutter cut into 2 ½ inches round.

  6. Place ½ teaspoon of jelly in center of half of the round.

  7. Moisten the edges with cold water; top with the remaining round, pinching the edges together firmly.

  8. Place the sealed doughnut on a greased baking sheet.

  9. Cover it and let it rise until doubled in a warm place; for about 45 minutes.

  10. Now heat oil in a deep fryer to 375⁰ F or 175⁰ C.

  11. Fry the doughnuts in batches at a time.

  12. Turn them as they rise to the surface, until golden brown; for about 2 to 3 minutes.

  13. Now remove it from the oil and then onto a paper towel.

SERVE
  1. Before serving, place them on a plate and toss it with sugar.

  1. These doughnuts are very yummy as after the 1st bite, you will discover the flavor of jelly unknowingly and surprisingly. With my 1st hand knowledge, I can assure you that if you have kids at your house, then make sure to double the quantity. And once you master in making this, you will be entitled as a confectioner.
