Tortillas are very much in Mexican cuisine. But when we talk about homemade tortillas, many of us will surrender and rather prefer buying pre-packaged tortillas. I have been trying out this homemade flour tortilla for quite some time now and the result turned out to be the best ever homemade flour tortillas.

I have been trying out this homemade flour tortilla for quite some time now and the result turned out to be the best ever homemade flour tortillas.

Ingredients
  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cup Water
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoon Lard
Instructions
  1. In a bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking powder together.

  2. Then add the lard with your fingers until the flour resembles cornmeal.

  3. Now add water and mix until the dough comes together.

  4. Place it on a lightly floured surface and knead for few minutes until it turns smooth and elastic.

  5. Then divide the dough into 24 equal pieces and roll each piece into a ball.

  6. Now preheat a skillet over medium-high heat.

  7. With a rolling pin, roll a dough ball into a thin round tortilla.

  8. Then place it into the hot skillet and toast it until it turns bubbly and golden.

  9. Then flip it and continue toasting until golden on the other side.

  10. Now place the ready tortilla in a tortilla warmer.

  11. Continue the same process with the remaining dough ball.

OUR PANTRY
  1. Serve the warm tortilla or allow to cool for later use. You can even store it in an airtight container or plastic zippered bag at the room temperature for 24 hours. Also, you can keep it in the freezer for later uses. It is a super easy yet delicious. You can make a wonderful sandwich wrap with it or you can add a salad to it. This may well be one of the most delicious pizzas you ever had the pleasure of making.
