Homemade Crackers

In today’s world, we all are very busy with some sorts of work and so we mostly prefer store-bought snacks, especially crackers. As myself is very busy with my own food joint and restaurant so I get a very little time at home to prepare something special for my near and dear ones. Being a busy blogger I always like to bring something which is very simple yet beyond our thinking. So crackers which strike me as one of those things that seem likely to be more effort than they would be worth.

Servings: 25 people

Ingredients
  • 2 teaspoon Sugar
  • 2 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoon Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 cup Water
FOR TOPPING
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame seeds optional
  • 1 tablespoon Fennel seeds optional
  • 1 tablespoon Poppy seeds optional
  • 1 teaspoon Sea salt
Instructions
  1. Place a rack in the lower third of the oven and preheat to 450⁰ F or 230⁰ C.

  2. Sprinkle a baking sheet lightly with flour and set it aside.

  3. Now in a bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar and the salt.

  4. Then add the oil and water to the flour mixture and combine it until a soft sticky dough is formed.

  5. NOTE

If there is a lot of loose flour remains in the bowl and the surface of the dough, then add a tablespoon of more water at a time until all the flour is incorporated.

  6. Now divide the dough into two halves and set one half aside.

  7. Sprinkle your work surface lightly with flour and set one half of the dough on the work surface.

  8. Now pat it into a thick square with your hand.

  9. Working from the center of the dough out, roll the dough into a rectangle roughly 1⁄8 inch thick or thinner.

  10. NOTE

If the dough starts to shrink back as you roll it, let it rest uncovered for 5 minutes and then continue rolling.

  11. Now brush the surface of the dough very lightly with water.

  12. Then combine any of the topping seeds in a small bowl and sprinkle half of them evenly over the surface of the dough.

  13. Using a pizza cutter or a sharp knife, cut the dough into crackers into square or diamond shape or use cookie cutters.

  14. Now transfer the crackers to the baking sheet and prick each cracker with the tines of a fork to prevent them from puffing during baking.

  15. Bake the crackers in the oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until the edges are browned.

  16. While the first batch of crackers is baking, roll out and cut the remaining dough and repeat the same steps for the second batch.

  17. Thinner crackers will bake more quickly than thicker ones.

  18. Once done, transfer the baked crackers to a wire rack to cool completely; the crackers will crisp further as they cool.

SERVE
  1. Now serve the crackers on the tray or store it in an air-tight container.

OUR DINE TABLE
  1. Truthfully homemade crackers are really quick and easy and super crispy which I couldn’t stop snacking. I love to have my crackers with tea or coffee or simply have to fulfill your appetite.
