During summer I make raita often. Especially this appears very frequently on our dinner table. This is my childhood favorite, my mom makes it every day. Many times a small bowl of raita and spoon is given to me; I can finish it up in no time. It is one of the popular raita in Indian cuisine and I’m going to disclose its secret.

- 1 cup Cucumber chopped
- 1 cup Yogurt to taste Salt
- ½ teaspoon Cumin powder
- Pinch of Black pepper powder optional
- Few Mint leaves or coriander leaves optional
- 1 Green chili chopped; optional
- 1 teaspoon Fresh ginger juice optional
Lightly dry roast the cumin at low flame.
Then cool it and powder it.
Wash and peel the cucumber and chop into small bites.
Add them to a bowl along with salt, yogurt and cumin powder and mix it very well.
If using the optional ingredients then add them.
Mix well till incorporated.
Garnish with pepper powder and keep refrigerated till serving.
This raita helps in digestion and cut extra calories from the junk food. Cucumber raita commonly goes well with Biryani or Pulao or any Indian meal. This can be prepared in few minutes. It adds heavenly goodness to the meal.
