Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon Active dry yeast
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Canola oil or vegetable oil plus extra for coating
  • 2⁄3 cup Wheat flour
  • ¼ cup Milk
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • ½ cup Lukewarm water
  • 3 tablespoon Butter melted
  • 3 tablespoon Cilantro chopped for garnishing; optional
Instructions
  1. Take ½ cup lukewarm water.

  2. Add sugar and yeast to it and let it foam, for about 10 minutes.

  3. Now add lukewarm milk, wheat flour, all-purpose flour, oil and salt over bloomed yeast mixture.

  4. Then combine all the ingredients and add 1 tablespoon remaining flour at a time until the dough comes together.

  5. Knead the dough briefly for about 2 minutes in the bowl; the dough will be little wet.

  6. NOTE

If it feels too wet or sticky, then add ½ tablespoon more flour at a time but it should not be very dry.

  7. Now coat a bowl with 1 teaspoon oil and put the dough to coat with oil.

  8. Cover it with plastic wrap and then with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise at a warm place until doubled in size; for about 2 hours.

  9. Then punch down the dough and transfer to flour dusted board.

  10. Now heat an iron skillet.

  11. Meanwhile microwave and melt the butter in a bowl for 15 seconds and keep it aside.

  12. Now divide the dough into 6 to 7 equal parts.

  13. Roll each dough to about 5-inch wide to 8-inch long oval shape by using a rolling pin.

  14. While you roll the next naan, keep the rolled naans covered with kitchen towel.

  15. Now place one rolled naan on the heated skillet and let it heat for 1 to 2 minutes or until yeast action shows tiny bubbles all over the naan.

  16. Then flip the naan and place it on the direct gas flame until slightly charred and cook on another side, for just 10 to 15 seconds.

  17. NOTE

Keep an eye on naan, if not picked quickly it can burn or have too much char.

  18. Now remove the cooked naan with a tong.

  19. Repeat the same process until all naans are cooked.

SERVE
  1. Immediately brush melted butter on cooked naan and spread some chopped cilantro, if wished and serve immediately.
