This dish I first had in my friend Robin’s 27th birthday. We had a great fun over there. It was arranged on a poolside with lots of baked dishes, pasta and of course drinks. Let me say something about Robbin, he is a very good chef. He is the owner of one of the renowned restaurant and at the same time, a hard-core party boy. By today’s recipe is his signature dish.

Ingredients
FOR MAKING THE SAUCE
  • 14 oz (400 gram) Tomatoes crushed
  • 3 oz (85 gram) Tomato paste
  • 28 oz (800 gram) Tomato sauce
  • ½ Large bell pepper diced
  • 1 lb (450 gram) Ground beef
  • Olive oil
  • ½ Onion diced
  • 2 Garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • Pinch of Garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Red wine vinegar
  • ¼ cup Fresh parsley chopped
  • 2 tablespoon Fresh oregano chopped
  • Salt as per taste
FOR MAKING LASAGNA
  • 15 oz (425 gram) Ricotta cheese
  • 24 oz (680 gram) Mozzarella cheese grated
  • 4 oz (115 gram) Freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • ½ lb (225 gram) Dry lasagna noodles
Instructions
  1. First, put a pot of salted water on high heat and let the water comes to a boil.

MEANWHILE, PREPARE THE SAUCE
  1. In a skillet heat 2 teaspoon of olive oil over medium-high heat.

  2. Then add the ground beef and stir it until it is lightly browned on all sides.

  3. Now remove the beef to a bowl.

  4. In the same skillet add a dash of olive oil, then put the diced bell pepper and onion.

  5. Cook it for 5 minutes until onion turns translucent and pepper turns soft.

  6. Then add the minced garlic and cook ½ a minute more.

  7. Add the brown ground beef and combine it well by reducing the heat to low and cook it for 5 minutes more.

  8. Once cooked, transfer the beef mixture to a pot.

  9. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and tomato sauce to that pot.

  10. Then put the parsley, Italian Seasoning, oregano and sprinkle the garlic powder to taste.

  11. Add the wine vinegar and stir in the sugar according to your taste.

  12. Add salt to taste.

  13. Now bring this sauce to simmer at low heat and cook it for 45 minutes, stirring often.

  14. NOTE

    Scrape the bottom of the pot so that it doesn’t stick to the bottom.

  15. Once done, remove it from the heat and keep it aside.

FOR PREPARING THE LASAGNA
  1. After the water get’s boiled, add the dry lasagna noodle and boil it as per packet instruction.

  2. When it is ready, drain in a colander and rinse with cold water gently.

  3. Then on a large rimmed baking sheet, spread a little olive oil, lay out the boiled lasagna noodles turning them over so that they get well coated with olive oil.

NOW FOR ASSEMBLING THE LASAGNA
  1. In a casserole or lasagna dish, ladle a cup of sauce and spread it over the bottom of the dish.

  2. Then arrange one layer of lasagna noodles lengthwise over the sauce.

  3. Now ladle the third layer with the remaining sauce over the noodles.

  4. Then sprinkle a layer of grated mozzarella on top of the lasagna sauce.

  5. Add the half of the ricotta cheese by placing cheese dollops every couple inches.

  6. Sprinkle the grated parmesan cheese over the ricotta cheese.

  7. Now apply a second layer of noodles and top it with half of the remaining sauce.

  8. Then add the half of the remaining mozzarella cheese over the sauce.

  9. Then the remaining ricotta cheese and sprinkle the parmesan.

  10. End it with another layer of noodles and spread the remaining sauce on the top layer of the noodles.

  11. And then add the remaining mozzarella cheese.

  12. Now tent the remaining lasagna pan with aluminum foil.

  13. NOTE

    Be sure that it doesn’t touch the noodles.

  14. Finally, bake it at 375° F or 190° C for 45 minutes.

  15. Once the baking has been done, let it cool before serving.

SERVE
  1. The cheese baked lasagna is ready to bring to a potluck.

  1. By seeing the recipe, I think it is clear to all that it is a heavy dish. Yes, I don’t deny it. It’s a perfect dish to feed a crowd and everyone will love this lasagna. Though it requires huge stuff of ingredients it worth it. So, if you are a cheese lover and have no worries on kilos, then move ahead and snap a pic and hashtag it.
